Background
I received by BS in Community Psychology from St. Cloud State University and MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have been able to work with a variety of populations. I have clinical experience working with individuals across the lifespan affected by serious and persistent mental illness in an in-home setting as well as outpatient private practice. I also have experience conducting Parent Assessments and working with families involved in child protection. Throughout these experiences, I saw first-hand the effects trauma can have on an individual as well as a family system. This led me to seek out specialized training and consultation in trauma. I am currently working on a certificate on complex trauma and dissociation through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) with an expected date of October 2024.
I use an integrative theoretical approach to therapy including polyvagal, narrative, psychodynamic, ego state, and brainspotting. Brainspotting is a brain/body based approach utilizing eye positioning and felt sense to access the subcortical part of our brain (the deep brain where our trauma, depression, and anxiety are stored) to foster efficient and effective healing.

The therapeutic alliance is one of the key factors in successful therapy. I invite prospective clients to send me an email to schedule a (free) 15 minute phone consult to get a feel for what it might be like to work with me.
